Discover the face behind the sewing machine

Hello! I’m Lucy, the founder of Larkspur Studio. I have always loved sewing and creating, and have always had a soft spot for all things floral. My Mum has always been my biggest inspiration, in fact, on my first birthday she made us matching dresses from Liberty fabric (see the photo!). As you can imagine, my love for handmade clothing and accessories was born early on, and it’s only grown from there. The sewing machine I use for these pieces is an heirloom I inherited from my Granny. I like to think she’d be proud of what I’m creating with it!

 

In 2025, I sat at the sewing machine for the first time in several years and started creating. A few projects in I made a ruffle handbag for my sister. When I shared it on social media, I was amazed by the reaction from friends, family, and strangers alike! I had already been thinking about starting a business, and this was the final push I needed. I love to create pieces which combine my love of all things whimsical, colourful and practical.

 

The name Larkspur Studio comes from my second favourite passion - gardening. Larkspur is another name for Delphiniums, which were among the first plants to successfully flower in my first garden! I like to think my creations in Larkspur Studio will also blossom into something beautiful!
